Just 15 minutes from the city centre, Matosinhos Beach offers one of the most consistent and beginner-friendly beach breaks in Portugal — and it’s where you’ll find Salty Wave Surf School – Porto.
Whether you’re a first-timer or just want to improve your skills, our certified instructors will guide you through everything step by step.
Relax in our outdoor lounge area — chill out, connect, or head back to the city with salty hair and a big smile.

Our school is right on Matosinhos Beach. Take the metro (Line A to Matosinhos Sul), bus 500 or 502, or an Uber/Bolt. We don’t offer hotel pick-ups, but getting here from Porto is quick and easy.
No experience needed: most of our students are first-time surfers. Basic swimming ability is recommended, but lessons take place in waist-deep water with the instructor always close by.
Around 1 hour and 30 minutes, including warm-up, safety briefing and time in the water.
Up to 8 students per instructor, so the group stays fun, social and safe.
Surfboard, wetsuit, safety briefing, a certified instructor and insurance are included. Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and water. You can leave your belongings in our lockers.
We always adapt. If the waves are too big or too small, we reschedule your lesson or offer another option. Safety always comes first.
